1 Corinthians 12:27 “Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.”
When we become a Christian through faith in Jesus Christ (By Grace), we become part of the Body of Christ.
This is no ordinary thing.
The Body of Christ is, in-fact, Jesus’ Church here on earth.
Just as the human body should work together, so should the Body of Christ. We need to work with our fellow believers to accomplish God’s plans for us.
Jesus is the head! He guides the body through the Holy Spirit.
Colossians 1:18 “And he [Jesus] is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.”
As believers we will have differences of opinions and interpretations with others. We must, however, in all of these matters let Jesus’ word and truth guide us.
How should we be affected knowing that we are part of the Body of Christ?
We must pursue truth and unity with other believers.
We must serve others using our spiritual gifts and our wordy possessions & abilities.
We must desire that the Body of Christ be complete. This means seeking the lost and sharing Jesus’ gospel.
We must love one another in worship, in fellowship, in sharing each others burdens, joys, experiences, pain, etc.
We must let Christ lead through his teachings and through the leading of the Holy Spirit.
