JESUS: The Great I Am

PASSION WEEK: MONDAY

PASSION WEEK: MONDAY Matthew 21:12-13

Jesus did not march to the palace to take his place as king, instead...

Jesus went to the temple of God!
Matthew 21:12-13 “And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.”

Why the temple?
Jesus declared the temple to be HIS HOUSE! King’s march in and capture the king’s palace. Jesus marched directly to the temple announcing to everyone where his priorities were and what he was king over. His kingdom was not like other earthly kingdoms.

House of prayer
Jesus desires that his people enter HIS HOUSE to pray. Church is not a place of commerce, it is a place for God’s people to worship God together in prayer and fellowship. Prayer is one of the great gifts from God. We can talk to our Lord and Saviour directly. He has opened the doors to that communication and announced to us his intent to hear us. Let us always pray diligently, and especially when we are in HIS HOUSE.

Jesus’ work continued:
Matthew 21:14 “And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.”
